Halloween is almost here and then we go right in to Thanksgiving and Christmas. What a busy time of year. If you still need some trick or treat bags before Sunday - ALL our Halloween Fabric is on sale for the rest of the week at 30% OFF. That includes the Glow-in-the-Dark Fabric! Don't miss this GREAT SALE!

We have lots of wonderful classes scheduled for you the next two months to help you get ready for Christmas. Please read our "Looking Ahead" section for some fun winter and spring events. There will be no time for cabin fever this year. Just come on down to the shop for lots of fun!

Thanks again for your support over the last year. I know many of you feel having a shop in Oscoda is a good thing and we are doing our best to try to keep it so. Have a wonderful Holiday Season!

NOVEMBER CLASSES AND EVENTS

Moda Club - November 3 at 6 PM - all are welcome. Cost $1.00

Tea at Sunshine - Sat., Nov. 6 at Noon - Cost $5 - Come join us for a 3 course tea, door prizes and specials in the store for Tea Goers only!

Thimbleberries Club - Tues., Nov. 9 at 6 PM - This is our next to the last meeting this year. Be sure and sign up for next year's club. We need 10 in each colorway to have that block of the month, so sign up today. Throw/Full size is $17.50 and Queen size is $23.00 per month. All fabric for quilt top and binding included and patterns with extra projects each month.

CrossRoads Bargello - Wed., Nov. 10 from 10:30 to 5 - Darlene Leosh will take you through making this "Made for Beginners" Bargello quilt. It is stunning and lots of fun with the puzzle piecing technique she teaches. Cost $35. Please register by Nov. 3. Pre-cutting required so come in for a pre-cutting sheet. See photo below!

Dec la Table Tablerunner - Thurs. Nov. 11 from 10:30 to 5 - Darlene will be helping those who need to finish their tablerunner embellishment and teaching a new class as well. You will get to see the process from beginning to end. This runner makes a simply awesome Christmas gift or something to add sparkle to your own home. Cost $35 for those starting their runner - finishers who have already taken the class are free. Please sign up by Nov. 4. Photo Below!!

Snowman Jacket - Sat. Nov. 13 from 10:30 to 5 - Who wouldn't love this cute jacket perfect for the entire winter season?! Made on a sweatshirt or on Hobbs Thermore (available at the shop) you'll have lots of fun making this snowman covered jacket with button embellishment, right down to the carrot noses! Cost $35. Ribbons and Blocks Jacket - Wed. Nov. 17 from 10:30 to 5 - Make this award winning pattern of Darlene's (she has one traveling with Hoffman Challenge this year!) The texture is wonderful and the techniques could be used in other projects as well. Again can be made on Thermore or a sweatshirt, your choice. Cost $35

Civil War Club - Wed. Nov. 17 at 6 PM- This is our next to the last meeting for club this year. We will be deciding what to do next year, so be sure and attend.

Stay at Home Murder Mystery Retreat - Thurs. - Sat. Nov. 18 - 20 from 10:30 to 5 each day - Many of you have asked me why I don't do a Murder Mystery right here in Oscoda. Well here's your chance! The quilt's a mystery as well as the murder. Yes, we will murder someone here at the shop (just pretend), then Inspector Quiltsew will interrogate participants to discover who had motive, means and opportunity to commit the heinous crime. Each morning we will start with homemade muffins, coffee and tea. Lunch will also be served as part of your fee. The best part, you can go home and sleep in your own bed and still participate. A pre-cut kit will be available for $85 but you can also pick up a cutting and yardage list and cut your own. Price of the retreat is $75 and includes meals mentioned above. There will be goodie bags and specials throughout the shop for participants. Please register no later than Nov. 8 to give us time to cut kits for those who want them and to get your goodie bags ready!

Quilters To Go Bag - Mon. Nov. 22 from 10:30 to 5 - Need a super bag to take to a retreat or class complete with ironing surface and removable pockets for your notions? Then this is the class for you! Here's the only bag you need to bring when going to a retreat. Just bring along your sewing machine and away you go. Cost $35. Please register by Nov. 15. photos below!

You'll learn how easy it is to strip piece diamonds. If you purchase the pre-cut kit for $125.00 (includes everything for top and binding) there is NO class fee.

Moda Club Christmas Party - Wed., Dec. 1 at 6 PM - Join us for a fun evening of Christmas treats, door prizes and special. Cost $1.

Christmas Tea - Sat., Dec. 11 at Noon - Join us for a very special Christmas Tea with lots of special treats just for Christmas. Door prizes and specials in the shop. Cost $5

Thimbleberries Club - Tues. Dec. 14 at 6 PM - This is our last club meeting of the year. Pick up your border kit, pillow-sham kits and backing for your quilt if you have ordered it.

Saturday Sampler - Sat., Dec. 18 at 9 AM - Note the change of day since our regular meeting would fall on Christmas. Get your last block and sign up for next year's club!

Civil War Club - Wed., Dec. 22 at 6 PM - Our last club meeting of the year.

Next year we are looking forward to lots of fun and exciting events!

Feb. 6 - Super BOLT Sunday sale - Come to the party! Buy yourself a gift certificate that gives you a 20% discount on fabric all year long (or until your certificate runs out). Food, discounts and demos - We have the "Minnesota Road Show" this year comprised of some talented designers from Minnesota. Come see the trunk show of their work and learn some new techniques.

May 15 to 18 OR May 18 to 21 - Join Darlene, Judi and I as we offer TWO back to back retreats at the beautiful conference center near Gladwin called "The Springs". Enjoy wonderful meals, nice rooms, a beautiful place to sew and learn a 2 Block Bargello quilt from Darlene. All this under ONE ROOF! No need to go outside in the weather unless you want to take a walk along the lake or through the woods. This lovely setting is ideal. We can't wait to share it with you. The quilt is sooo much fun! Who knew you could make a Bargello quilt in mirage image blocks. Easy! Bring along a UFO or two as well for evening sewing. Arrive the first night by 6 PM for snacks and get started on your quilt. All meals are furnished the next two days then leave after breakfast the last day or sew until noon.

Cost for all this just $245.00. There will be a very nice goodie bag for each participant and PRE-CUT KITS will also be available. Watch the Facebook Page for a picture of the quilt project and colorways to choose from for your pre-cut kits. Price of kit will soon be determined. Call us today to register. FALL MURDER MYSTERY RETREAT - October 9 - 13 at the Springs! Yes, we're planning a Murder Mystery, Mystery Quilt Retreat at the Springs for October 2011. We'll have prices and more information soon. Let us know if you're interested.

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT YEAR!!!

Let's Go Cruising!!! September 23 to 26, 2011 - I have been invited to teach on a cruise ship (Holland America Lines) leaving Seattle, WA on September 23, 2011 and returning on the 26th. We will cruise to British Columbia, CA so you must have a passport. The cruise prices are very reasonable - just $299 per person for an inside berth - no windows, $349 per person for a berth with windows, $499 per person for a veranda and $699 for a deluxe veranda. We will be making a very special applique quilt in the evenings while on board from 7 to 9 PM. That leaves your days to go on excursions to Bouchart Gardens in Victoria and other excursions. Dave and I will be taking the train from Toledo to Seattle for an extra special fall get away. Let me know if you would like information on the train or you can fly to Seattle as well. The cost of air or train travel is in addition to the cruise price. A deposit of $200 is required to get these very reasonable prices and they won't last for long so sign up soon! The class fee is $35 plus the cost of the kit if you want it. Plan ahead for this exciting cruise coming your way in September of 2011!

RETREAT with Darlene, Sherrie and Judie - May 15th to the 18th or May 18th to the 21st, 2011 - We are planning a Quilt Retreat doing one of the Bargello Quilts with the puzzle piecing technique this coming May. All meals will be included as well as housing and the class for one low price. We are still deciding between Thunder Bay Resort and the Springs and will let you know final destination and costs as soon as we have them. Another retreat with Inspector Quiltsew, a Murder Mystery/Mystery Quilt is being planned for October of 2011 as well. As soon as we have all the details we'll send out the information. Until then mark your calendars!
